On April 28, 2025, Karen Fong, the secretary-general of the Malaysian Association for Education and Culture Promotion, together with representatives from the association's China office, namely Ms. Xie Feng, Mr. Xin Xiyou, and Mr. Zhao Yan, visited Shandong Information Vocational College. They engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges with the relevant officials of the college on issues such as cooperation between China and foreign countries in education, the construction of channels for students to pursue master's and doctoral degrees, and the improvement of teachers' academic qualifications.
At the symposium, the leadership team of Shandong Information Vocational College warmly welcomed the delegation's visit and introduced the college's achievements in recent years in the fields of information technology, intelligent manufacturing, and artificial intelligence, as well as the positive progress made in promoting internationalized education. The college attaches great importance to international exchanges and cooperation and is actively building an open and diverse educational system, with particular attention to the connectivity in higher education with Southeast Asian countries.
Secretary-General Feng Kailin stated that Malaysia, as an important node country of the "Belt and Road Initiative", has a well-developed higher education system and multilingual teaching resources, and possesses a solid foundation for international education cooperation. This visit aims to build an exchange bridge for Shandong Information Vocational College to connect with Malaysian universities. The focus is on promoting substantive cooperation between China and Malaysia in three major areas: first, exploring the joint establishment of specialized Chinese-foreign cooperative education programs at the junior college level; second, opening up direct paths for students with the intention of further studies to enter master's and doctoral programs at Malaysian universities; third, assisting the college's in-service teachers to pursue doctoral studies in Malaysia to enhance the overall teaching and research capabilities.
Representatives from the China Office of the Association, Ms. Xie Feng, Mr. Xin Xiyou and Mr. Zhao Yan, also provided detailed explanations regarding the specific cooperation process, project feasibility, and implementation plans for on-the-ground execution. They also expressed their firm determination to continue promoting bilateral cooperation, achieving resource sharing and achieving mutual benefit and win-win results.
Both sides initially reached several cooperation agreements in a positive and pragmatic atmosphere, and plan to further negotiate and implement specific projects in the subsequent stage. This exchange not only provides a new opportunity for Shandong Information Vocational College to expand its international cooperation channels, but also lays a solid foundation for the deep integration of China and Malaysia in higher vocational education, teacher development, and talent cultivation in these fields.
